Apple Mania

Paul Cezanne

Stephenie Meyer's Twilight

While eating an apple today, I realized how generic and common they have become in our society.  They are probably the most common fruit and come in a variety of types.  They appear everywhere, even on one of the best-selling books of our generation, the ever-swooning book, Twilight, by Stephenie Meyers.  They are delicious and juicy and amazing.  We should all appreciate fruit more.

The Ox or the Sheep

Franz Kline Himself
Right this second, sitting next to the lovely Sophie in class.  L..A...S...T  P...E...R...I...O...D of the day.  It is dreadful.  So, I was telling you all about Mr. Franz Kline.  What can I say about him other than he is a complete genius?  What I love about him and his paintings is that people stare at them for a few moments or stare at them for hours and sometimes can never realize why a paintings, that looks so simple and so abstract, can be worth millions of dollars?  Why is a painting, that looks like it was literally made by a baby, on the walls of famous museums around the world?  This is what I have discovered.  When you look at his paintings, they look like paintings.  They look complete.  They look full and as if they are finished.  How hard do you think it is to create a painting that looks that complete, that finished, and only uses straight black paint lines?  It is actually quite incredible.  And it is truly difficult.

Remember how not techy I was?

Fabulous Franz Kline

Even more fabulous Franz Kline

Crazy Fabulous Franz Kline
Lovely Louise Nevelson
Well, fabulous invisible people who are the only ones who are reading my blog, I just proved how un-techy I really am.  It just took me 16 minutes to figure out how to write another post on my blog.  I know, genius.  Plus, I by accidentally pushed some button and now I, myself, is following my own blog and furthermore, i am my blog's only follower!  Love it.  This is going to be a short post because the hells of 11th grade are quickly burning up all of my free time tonight and I have a HUGE test on The Grapes of Wrath (UGH) tomorrow.  I just want to introduce you to one of my current favorite artists.  Franz Kline.  He was an American painter who is mainly associated with the Abstract Expressionist movement centered around New York in the 1940s and 1950s.  Some of his paintings are currently on display at the MOMA if anyone has time to go see.  They are right next to the fabulous Louise Nevelsons.  In my next post I'll explain why I love him so much.  You might be surprised when you first look at his paintings, but do not be deceived.  A baby could not have done them.

A New Beginning

Well, heres to a new beginning.  I am usually not so great with all this techy stuff, especially tumblr or just navigating my own desktop, which is weird because I go to a computer based High School and I am literally on my computer 24/7.  But anyways, hi, i'm Isabel, but the majority of my friends call my Izzy.  I am turning seventeen years old this February and am in the middle of the grueling and gruesome college process (UGH kill me now).  Art, for me, has always been the one constant in my life.  My grandfather owns an art gallery in NYC,  and I always attribute my interest and skill to him.  He is my role model and when I grow up, I wish to be like him in every way possible--minus the sleep apnea and snoring.  Tangent: whenever I am with him at his house or we are on a trip together, he always naps.  And after about five minutes, his snoring gets so bad, that he ends up waking himself up.  Its truly funny to watch.  He'll jolt up, and look around as if someone just slapped him.  Anyways, I adore going to Museums and living in NYC, I am super lucky to have so many options.  I love fashion and fashion design as well as painting, drawing, sculpting, and pretty much everything you can think of that is related to being creative.  I have a mannequin in my room.  Her name is Zelda.  I named her Zelda because my crazy father wanted to name me Zelda when I was a baby.  But, luckily, I have a pretty sane mother who came to my rescue and saved me from total complete humiliation.  Life is good and I want to share it with all of you through my eyes.  So, I hope you enjoy and post to tell me what you think!!!
