procrastination and bernese

Its Sunday and I am procrastinating like no other.  Bernese, my dress form, is basically staring me down, trying to make me do my work.  But, I can't.  It's a wonderfully gorgeous day outside and I am stuck inside working on my long LONG research paper on Norman Rockwell.  Oh, Bernese.  There are nights when I think she's actually moving around in my room and when I open my eyes, I swear she's moved a few inches to the right.  But, she is an inanimate object, after all, and is lifeless so I just tell myself that it is really I who is crazy and I live with it.  So, heres to procrastination and Bernese.  Random internet photos of awesome art.

Joshua Allen Harris.  If you were to remember one name for the rest of your artistic life, it should be the incredible and ***young** Joshua Harris.  Studying under the great modern artist, Tobi Kahn, Harris completed a class project, of using recycled objects, by cutting up and taping garbage bags into forms of animals and attaching them to the subway grates on the streets of NYC.  So, the genius is, when a subway rumbles past, the air from the subway rises through the grate and inflates the bags, thereby inflating the animal to it's full form.  When the subway has passed, the animal drifts down again to the city streets and looks, once again, like a pile of useless garbage bags.  The creativity of these art pieces is incredible and although I have yet to see one in action, the pictures are seriously AWESOME.

  

A breath of spring air....

I know its a little late, but I feel like this year's spring fashion cannot be ignored.  Down the runways this season, we saw everything!  This season's spring fashion is all about comfort and I am so down with that!!  I am also loving the long flowing skirts, I think they are so classic and beautiful.  Flash back to the 40's and 50's when longer skirts were the norm, lets bring em back!!!!  I am loving Suno's printed button down shirt and printed skirt.  Bright flashes of color and the "pajama" look were also seen this season.  Besides the obvious factor of anorexic models who look like they might fall and break their bones as they walk down the runways in 5'inch platform heels, this season was pretty fantastic and a breath of fresh spring air...

Don't you hate when wannabe artsy people post really creepy and sketchy photos and phrases on tumblr?  I absolutely HATE HATE HATE it.  How is anyone supposed to concentrate on Death of a Salesman in English class if the person right beside me is click clacketing away on her computer, posting pictures of people cutting themselves and dark scary pictures of ghosts and demons.  So, this post is in honor of all the uplifting, good, and happy in the world.
